Is a predator and a tireless swimmer, he lives mainly in the open sea, but in spring, at the end of summer and at the beginning of autumn, he approaches the coasts after the period of reproduction. This video was actually made at the end of August, we are into the waters of Elba Island in one of the many beaches crowded with bathers. The Yellowtail we filmed is a rather young specimen, which came up twice as it was probably swimming in search of food.

Usually it lives in packs of numerous individuals of the same size, but when it is hungry and in search of food it separates from the group and hunts in solitary or at most in groups of a few specimens. In these conditions it is easy to spot it in the shallow waters and it is easy to approach it since it is intrigued by everything that happens in the waters in which it swims.

It is the largest fish in the carangidae family, being able to reach 2 meters in length and 70–100 kg in weight, even among those that live in oceans and tropical seas. Ricciola Yellowtail Seriola Dumerili Carangidae intotheblue.it
