Even in this now forgotten summer of 2024 we returned to freedive on the Melania wreck. We often freedive on this wreck since the depth is not prohibitive even for the less trained. The wreck lies on a seabed of maximum 11-12 meters to rise to 9, considering the top of the bow perhaps even 6 meters deep.

If the visibility is good, as in our case, you can appreciate the wreck in its entirety from stern to bow. To be precise we should say you can see the wreck in all three of its main parts.
In fact, the ship was cut into three parts to try to recover the iron and because it created problems for coastal navigation, we are 1.5 miles from the coast of our “Secche di Vada” (Livorno). So we do not see it resting on the seabed in the classic navigation trim like other wrecks. The stern and bow, given their shape, are lying on one side
