Felidhoo Dolphins in the Maldives

During a boat transfer, to get to the coral reef and scuba dive in Indian Ocean, we met a bunch of dolphins. The encounter as always has been exciting and interesting because these marine mammals are sometimes easily approached.

Farewell... to a dear friend!

While sailing to reach our dive site we met a dead dolphin. We are 4.5 miles off the coast of Castiglioncello, in the Province of Livorno, in the area considered the "Sanctuary of the Cetaceans" because during the summer many marine mammals come here to reproduce.

Cetacean sanctuary: meeting with Dolphins and Humpback whales

As usual every year we tell of the meeting with the Dolphins, this one took place on 02/08/2020 and a Whale almost certainly a Humpback Whale Megaptera novaeangliae in the day before 01/08/2020 always together with many dolphins.

Humpback whale in Mediterranean sea

While navigating to reach the chosen seabed for the usual scuba diving, we came across a sight never seen before. On 1 August 2020 in the stretch of sea about 9 miles off Castiglioncello in Mediterranean Sea, on the route to the Island of Capraia, we suddenly encountered a pod of dolphins and at least two or perhaps three Humpback whales.
