Mediterranean Barracuda or Yellow-mouth Barracuda (Sphyraena viridensis) is an endemic species of Mediterranean Sea, although many consider it an alien species, it is actually one of the many species that are victims of global warming and tropicalization of the Mediterranean.

In fact, due to the warming of the water, this species has spread in the Mediterranean up to northern latitudes, becoming a rather common species at all latitudes, when until about ten years ago its ideal habitat was the waters south of the Mediterranean basin. like the coasts of Morocco, Tunisia and the Strait of Sicily.

In this video we filmed a young specimen of Barracuda, Sphyraena viridensis, in one of the many high tide pools that represent a “nursery” for many species of fish and juvenile organisms. We saw him wandering in shallow water from the surface and tried turning on the camera and placing it on the bottom as a fixed camera. Then reselling the video we realized that this little Barracuda has approached our camera several times, probably intrigued by the red light turned on during the recording phase.
